About Us

This is me, Roxanne.

To me, yoga is about life. It is learning to explore yourself and your world. It is a journey from your mind to your heart, it is about thinking less and feeling more, loving life and living life to your full potential. Bikram Yoga has the power to change lives as it has mine.

Bikram Yoga Maroochydore opened in 2003 out of my desire to create a space where I can grow as a human being as well as a place that offers the opportunity for people to receive as much as I have received from Bikram Yoga.

I have been teaching for over 9 years and my commitment and dedication to the cause shines through in my passion, enthusiasm and knowledge. I use my intuition and my heart as a tool to support others with their personal growth, health and well-being.

As a teacher I am no more than a diligent student. I bring to my classes everything I find in my own practice. I have found yoga to be the most useful for keeping my mind focused, calm and present as well as keeping my heart open to all around. I feel it is something that truly enhances the quality of my life.

At Bikram Yoga Maroochydore, we love spreading the benefits of this amazing system. We believe that yoga is not just something you 'do'.  Ultimately, yoga is a journey of truth - a path of finding the truth about who you really are, and how your thoughts and actions affect your life. Allow your heart to shine.

I came to Bikram Yoga with my friends during and emotional time in my life. After my first class, a challenging class, I knew my mind, body and heart would be coming back. I practiced daily for 8 months and set my sights for teacher training in L.A. It transformed my life, health and mind-set. My practice had help free me from bouts of depression and brought to me an awareness of self. I just keep coming back. I am now a qualified Bikram instructor.

I own and operate the Caloundra Bikram Yoga studio and love  to teach, share and help others. Namaste.

If I'm honest I've always had a bit of love/hate relationship with Bikram Yoga. I have never had the most beautiful postures in the room but almost immediately after I started to practice, Bikram Yoga changed my life.

Ninety minutes of hard, sweaty work in the yoga room meant I seemed to be able to fit so much more into the rest of the day and as an added bonus I was able to sleep so much better. In other words, ninety minutes in the hot room meant the other 22 1/2 hours were improved - a pretty good deal to me.

I have been a secondary school teacher for the past 14 years. Originally I taught music and more recently I teach students with special needs. I also have my Masters of Education in Guidance and Counseling and therefore I have a real interest in the area of mental health. Why am I telling you this? Because this is how I ended up taking myself off to the craziness that is Bikram Yoga Teacher Training!

Being conscious of how Bikram Yoga has helped me I have this desire to use it to help everyone! My dream is for one day my two worlds to collide and Bikram Yoga being used in schools. So off I went on the first step of my dream to Teacher Training. I left my husband and my 5 year old for 7 weeks (they joined me for the final two weeks) and joined approximately 300 other passionate Bikram Yoga devotees for the most intense experience of my life. Was it hard? Absolutely! (My love/hate relationship continued…) There were real challenges for me but I met some of the most amazing people. The thing I loved the most was that there were 300 people all with a story of how Bikram Yoga had improved their lives – fixing a bad back or improving their severe depression or helping them through cancer. So, am I glad I did it? Absolutely! I’m really enjoying teaching. Watching and helping people in the class from the beginners to the more experienced students is so much more fun than I was anticipating. I have no love/hate relationship with teaching – only love!

See you in class…

Carolyn Clendenning

Originally from Toronto Canada, Carolyn comes to the Sunshine Coast from Capalaba.

After years in the Corporate world in New York City and Toronto. I was stressed out with more than a few extra kilos that just refused to go away. A good friend recommended Bikram Yoga. I was skeptical about the heat but would try anything once. To my surprise the heat was like a warm blanket for my joints and muscles. Two weeks later I blurted out "I am going to go to training". In the Fall of 2008 I became certified by Bikram in Acapulco. After returning to Toronto, I left for New England in the US and taught in 6 studios in 3 States before heading to Australia.

Carolyn is certified as a Lomi Lomi Massage Therapist and offering Bikram Students a Special offer to compliment your Bikram practice.

Lomi Lomi is a deeply relaxing, flowing Hawaiian Massage using warmed organic coconut oil to soothe the entire body with rhythmic, 'ocean wave' inspired strokes. This massage is a medium pressure massage that unwinds your muscles, and continues the detoxification process begun in your Bikram class through lymphatic drainage and increased circulation.

Relax your body and calm your mind by taking time for yourself to rejuvenate and refresh.
